So much fun. I beat all my friends, because I drive better than them. They just drive anywhere on the track, they don't follow the racing line.

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO BECOME A RACE CAR DRIVER
Or is it? I know it's too late for me.

I went karting for the first time in ages this weekend. Nice little party over at Unser racing. First heat, I took 2nd. Second heat, 1st. Championship I fought tooth and nail for that first place, then he spun me at the finish line. Settled for 3rd.
That bastrid.

When I first looked at the no bumping sign I thought it said "no humping"

It might be too late. I don't even have my own go kart yet. I know my friends will never be. They were saying to each other before the race, "This isn't GTA".

*facepalm*
All you need to do is go there as often as possible until your parents are like "damn, he's good! Can we make money off him?" Then that's when you say go kart time. Then start competing nationally.

I had the same exact experience a little over a week ago. The only problem I have is I get a little too ambitious, and end up quite rubbish.

Haha. There were a couple of turns where I decided to drift. But not all the time!

I went recently. My one friend had an Integra that was slightly modified about 10 years ago. The other has driven quite a few performance cars but isn't a track day guy. I have done a number of track days, and am a pretty fast but safe driver.
Sadly the first round they both set faster laps than me, the second time I was second fastest between us. I definitely did the racing portion a lot better. Still It sucked. I'm slightly fat even though I use to be the lightest of us, and have some health problems that contribute. Point being i was hoping I'd turn a lot faster laps, my OMP shoes did not help my sadness.
Can someone explain karting to me? Not shifter karts but fast regular karts indoor.
When is it ok to pass the guy in front of you since no mirrors, when is it the passers responsibility, when does it become the person getting passed? I know if you get up there you go for it in karting, but what are the actual rules there?
I'm very familiar with multi class racing in sports cars / prototypes but It's a little different since you have some idea of when the guy is going to try to pass.

However, the older you get, the more money you need.

You have to be really precise in autocross. It is really good practice(and relatively cheap) before you work your way up to a track! Get a set of really good tires, add some camber, and get as many runs in as you can!

Remember, that not all racing is done at places like Le Mans and Monaco. Some of the crazier stuff is done at lesser known tracks and is fairly affordable. Stuff like Time Attack , which you can run something that costs 300k , or your average joe's ride . Plus the racing is SUPER fast . It is basically like a qualifying lap. . . but done over and over again.
